Frankfurt am Main/Berlin, 4 May 2026. Media Frankfurt is integrating Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) into its Programmatic Digital Out-of-Home (pDOOH) network, thereby expanding its airport advertising portfolio. This adds an automated, data-driven booking option for digital advertising spaces at the capital’s airport, including advanced targeting possibilities and campaign delivery based on factors such as time of day, target groups, or flight data.
BER Airport has been part of “SkyConnect” since 2023 – Media Frankfurt’s network of leading German airports that enables cross-location brand campaigns. The existing partnership is now being extended to include programmatic advertising.
“Programmatic DOOH is becoming increasingly important within the media mix. This makes it all the more important that the programmatic networking of German airports moves forward,” says Martin Korosec, Managing Director of Media Frankfurt. “Connecting BER to our programmatic network offers advertisers even greater flexibility for data-driven communication strategies. Campaigns can be efficiently rolled out across multiple airports, and now at the capital’s airport too.”
57 screens along key passenger flows
With around 26.1 million passengers last year, BER is the central transport hub for the capital region and Brandenburg. At launch, the programmatically bookable inventory at BER includes 57 digital advertising screens, in both portrait and landscape formats, generating more than 7.5 million viewed impressions in an average week in 2026:
- „Digital City Light Poster“ (Terminal 1 + 2): 42 high-reach screens with multiple touchpoints along passenger walkways
- „Digital Screens Arriving“ (Terminal 2): 9 screens in the baggage claim area, offering long dwell times and high attention among arriving passengers
- „Digital Plaza“ (Terminal 2): 6 screens in a central location near retail as well as food and beverage areas
Berlin is one of Europe’s most visited cities. The passenger mix at BER is correspondingly diverse – ranging from business travellers to tourists from all over the world. “At BER, passengers in very different travel situations come together every day. Programmatic DOOH makes it possible to address these different audiences and travel contexts in a highly targeted way,” says Jennifer Brauer, Head of Advertising and Activities at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. “Programmatic campaign management is an ideal addition to the classic IO-based booking options that remain available at our airport.”
Real-time optimisation as a key advantage
Compared to traditional bookings, pDOOH enables highly targeted audience segmentation, real-time booking flexibility, contact-based delivery, and ongoing optimisation throughout the campaign period. This reduces wastage while increasing relevance and overall campaign performance.
One example of programmatic possibilities at airports is so-called flight triggering: content is displayed based on flight data and can be tailored to destinations, origin, or language. In combination with SkyConnect, campaigns can be coordinated along the entire passenger journey across multiple airports. For instance, passengers travelling from Frankfurt to Berlin can be reached at departure and addressed again upon arrival at BER.
The programmatically bookable inventory is connected via JCDecaux’s supply-side platform (SSP) VIOOH. Campaigns can be booked through integrated demand-side platforms (DSPs, e.g. The Trade Desk, DV360, Hivestack) or as a managed service via Media Frankfurt.
