New LED eye-catcher in the check-in area at Frankfurt Airport

Attention spans are getting shorter in our current times. This makes it even more important for airport advertising to catch the eye of the travellers quickly. With the implementation of two new large-scale LED advertising spaces at Frankfurt Airport, Media Frankfurt, the leading airport marketing company in the DACH region, is setting new standards. The two screens stand out due to their impressive size and extremely high resolution. They offer an exceptional advertising experience thanks to their ability of displaying spectacular 3D effects.

In service since the end of June, the two 54 m² "Digital Check-In Stars" at Terminal 1 are strategically located at the highly frequented Business Check-In in the immediate vicinity of Lufthansa's Premium Check-In. With a height of 3.3 metres and a width of 17.8 metres per board, they are one of the largest indoor areas of their kind at German airports. The new screens provide an impressive visual spectacle thanks to their optimal landscape format. The approximately 65 million international passengers who take off from Frankfurt Airport in a year are mesmerised by these advertising spaces.

The screens are currently showcasing the recently launched foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 as well as the new wearables Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Buds3 Pro from Samsung. "For our campaigns, we aim to book the most spectacular spaces at the highly important advertising hotspots in Germany. Therefore, we are particularly excited that we have been given the opportunity to showcase our campaigns on the 'Digital Check-In Stars' at Frankfurt Airport on a long-term basis. With the international, affluent audience at this location, we can reach the optimal target group for our products and stage our campaign brilliantly," says Mario Winter, Vice President Marketing at Samsung Electronics Germany.

A particular challenge during the installation was fire protection which plays a crucial role at the airport to ensure everyone’s safety. The advertising spaces are therefore elaborately equipped with a state-of-the-art self-extinguishing system, which is integrated into the latest LED displays. The system uses e-bulbs, small glass extinguishing devices that shatter at high temperatures and achieve an extinguishing effect by releasing a special liquid which vaporises instantly. This complex but extremely reliable process ensures rapid action in the event of a fire.

Tina Ewald, Head of Project Management at Media Frankfurt, emphasises the importance of this innovation: "The two LED screens are another flagship of our innovation strategy. When developing such large-scale projects, we prioritise not only inspiring our customers from a technical point of view, we also aim to set new standards in terms of sustainability."

Looking into the future, Media Frankfurt is planning to install further innovative advertising spaces in Terminal 3 that are guaranteed to attract the attention of travellers. Terminal 3 is due to open in 2026.
