Smart Waytising by Media Frankfurt and Uber

Frankfurt Airport now has a central pick-up and drop-off zone for users of the Uber app. To ensure that passengers can easily find the area, Media Frankfurt and Uber implemented a strategically placed ‘Waytising’ – a combination of ‘wayfinding’ and ‘advertising’ – creating a seamless orientation along the passenger journey.

Frankfurt, 26 February 2025. After landing, most passengers want to get to their destination as quickly as possible. Travellers departing from Frankfurt Airport also value a smooth start to their journey – ideally without having to walk a long way. This is now possible with the new Uber pick-up and drop-off point at the P31 car park at Terminal 1. Those who book a trip via the Uber app to the airport can get off directly at the departure level and proceed to check-in with ease. For those leaving the airport, the location serves as a central pick-up point.

Signage Marketing from Baggage Claim to Departure

To maximise visibility of the new arrival and pick-up area, Media Frankfurt has implemented a tailored waytising concept for Uber. Extensive signage, striking column wraps, and escalator branding guide passengers from the baggage claim area to the pick-up point. These elements are complemented by eye-catching door wraps at the airport exits, signs near the pick-up zone, and a mobile promotion stand that directs passengers to the area and attracts attention with small giveaways.

“Our aim is to make using the Uber app as easy as possible - especially at a hub as important as Frankfurt Airport. With our innovative concept, we are making a significant contribution to ensuring that customers can find their way around smoothly,” says Christoph Weigler, General Manager of Uber Germany. “However, the signage is more than just a guidance system: it makes the Uber app an integral part of mobility at Frankfurt Airport and strengthens it as a convenient travel option for passengers.”

A Tailored Advertising Solution for Uber

The waytising concept was designed specifically for Uber to seamlessly integrate the brand into the passenger journey. The eye-catching design elements incorporate the Uber branding and intuitively draw travellers' attention to the new pick-up point.

"With our waytising system, we not only help travellers find their way, but also create optimal visibility along central passenger touchpoints for brands such as Uber. In this way, advertising becomes part of the customer journey and offers real added value," explains Martin Korosec, Managing Director of Media Frankfurt.
