Media Frankfurt and Fraport launch their own survey platform for passengers

With Travelpinion, Media Frankfurt and Fraport have launched an exclusive survey platform. The portal enables passenger surveys on the topics of tourism, mobility and consumer habits. In addition, tracking of visitor movements through Frankfurt Airport is currently being set up. In the future, a connected programmatic sale is planned.

Frankfurt, 10 November 2023. Mobile working is becoming more and more popular due to the increasingly fluid boundaries between work and private life. For example, 64% of working passengers at Frankfurt Airport associate flexible working with mobile work – they also unpack their laptops when travelling. 36% state that they have worked on business trips in the last 12 months, for example on the train, at the airport or in a hotel. In 2019, the figure was only 11%. Workation – working from a holiday location – was used by 21% last year (2019: 6%). 18% extended business trips for private purposes (2019: 7%). These are the results of a recent survey conducted in the new online panel.

On Travelpinion, advertising customers, businesses at the airport, service providers and the airlines represented at Frankfurt Airport can commission studies easily and cost-effectively. The topics range from travel experiences, travel plans, opinions and preferences for services and products. As a reward for registering and participating in the online surveys, the participants themselves currently receive raffle tickets that they can use to win prizes.

To draw attention to the survey platform and guarantee the representativeness of the panel, Travelpinion is advertised directly at the airport via advertising space at Media Frankfurt and the Fraport-MONITOR passenger survey.

The platform is also linked to an app which – subject to the participants' consent – also records their movement data. This profile data is linked to Travelpinion and will be used in future for programmatic sales in particular. It can also be used to create heat maps or analyse length of stay and customer journeys.

"With Travelpinion, we are offering our advertising customers and the airlines represented here exclusive access to their traveller target groups at Frankfurt Airport. The data accuracy will be groundbreaking, providing valuable insights into consumer behaviour and movement patterns for programmatic advertising," says Martin Korosec, Managing Director of Media Frankfurt.
